Veronika Durová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the Jan Hendrych Figure Sculpture Studio (2006-2012). One of the important motives of her current work is "dialogue." The
essence of her works is the human body's speech, which illustrates the
situations taking place without pronounced narrativity that would allow
us to physiognomically read. In
this way, she gains the opportunity to explore the expressive position
in which the gesture is sometimes outrageous, sometimes deliberately
chosen. The
continuity of her work is maintained thanks to the intuitive ability to
"guess" the missing central part of the body moving in the invisible
second plan.
Above all, there is an unspoken reflection on the presence and absence that historically deeply rooted in figural sculpture. In
the structure of his work, she incorporates the question of whether the
statue is something that, in particular in the case of a particular
portrait, presents the rendered human figure or, on the contrary,
emphasizes its real absence. The authenticity of the detail, which speaks its own language, has become her basic clue. At first, perhaps intuitive, but intermingling all her work.
