Schön Frantisek

Famous Olomouc landscape painter, academic painter.

Born on February 1st, 1882 in Olomouc, where he also died February 11th 1976. Franz Schon was born in Olomouc and he lived and worked most of his life here. After studying at the Viennese School of Applied Arts under the guidance of Professor Malinovsky, he decided to spend several years traveling to the Orient, leaving an unshakeable trace of his artistic inspiration. Besides the typical oil landscape paintings depicting the Moravian countryside, we can see the Middle East and Indian themes in his work.
